Realistic Drawing

Join Deb Van Poolen at the Ashland Art Center.

REALISTIC DRAWING

Students are invited to receive the keys to realistic drawing in this exciting class! The idea of drawing what you see can be intimidating. Not to worry! In this class, instructor Deb spends as much time with each student as necessary. If a student is challenged to understand a certain technique, Deb will not stop explaining how that drawing technique works until each of her students understands and executes that technique.

Deb teaches step-by-step methods of drawing which utilize both right and left brain techniques and set all students up for success.  Participants first learn how to use a tool called the “viewfinder” which enables them to see the three-dimensional world in two-dimensions. Next, students learn a technique called “construction drawing” as they draw still-life objects set up in the classroom.  Deb has taught 100’s of people how to see and draw in perspective using these methods.  The class will meet from 4pm to 6pm, eight weeks straight..People of ages from 12 to 120 are welcome!

Introduction to Watercolor

Let the water do the work in this exciting class! Deb Van Poolen will teach straightforward watercolor design and painting techniques in this beginning watercolor class. Instructor Deb teaches students how to plan their painting’s composition, value scale and color scheme in the pre-painting stage. When it comes time to paint, students will apply various layers of paint and enjoy watching the water and pigment combine to make beautiful pictures! Supplies needed for this class will be determined by each student in the first couple weeks of class. Deb will share some of her supplies and students can purchase materials according to their budget. Feel free to email Deb with any questions at deb@biodiversityarts.com.
